Of what I didn’t mean to turn into a series. I promise. I can’t promise I’ll never do it accidentally again, though. Anyways, the last thing that I wanted to do was to add some sort of mail holder. The Fireman has been talking about having a system for bills that need to be paid and sent off for literally a year and a half. So when I saw this guy at Goodwill for $2, I danced around in the aisle snatched it up. (Then I danced in the aisle).
I sprayed it with Rustoleum’s Granite, and all of a sudden it didn’t look like something that you’d find in your grandmothers house. Okay, I mean it did a little, but for $2 beggars can’t be choosers. After I picked it up I thought it might be nice to have a small shelf next to it to help balance out the little awkward wall space there was left, soooo……
These shelves are awesome. They only come in black, so I painted it with the same homemade color as the dresser, resulting in a much less IN YO FACE shelf. I also had a Martha Stewart blackboard decal for above it, just to put little “Don’t forget” notes for the mornings that we are scatterbrained (who am I kidding, that’s every morning).
Ready? (I am).
Please excuse my drunk sun up there.
It perfectly balances out the blue and red tones in the rest of the entryway, too.
As for labeling the mail holder, I just used washi tape because we’ll probably end up switching them up later and I’d rather not have to repaint it.
See that rug that perfectly matches everything? $3 at Goodwill. Apparently they sell nice new stuff too. I should get out more. I was thrilled to see that it even matched our ugly yellow tile floor. Oh, the things I would do for hardwood flooring.
I’m really excited about how the whole entire entry came out. It was cheap and easy to do (even though I did it in pieces), and it would be easy to switch up in the future as well.
This is the new view as you walk in. Sigh. Also, did I ever mention that there is absolutely no light in this entry? The old light used to blow through bulbs like nothing, and it was pitch black in there when it would happen. The fact that there’s so much light and airy colors now really helps brighten it up.
FINALLY DONE. But seriously, I love it so much.
And to see just how cheaply I did this mini transformation…
Frames: Target, Walmart, Christmas Tree Shop
Dresser: Yard sale
Lamp: Target
Rug & Mail holder: Goodwill
Sunburst mirror & accessories: already owned
Best makeover ever.
Except I say that every single time.
I’ll leave it to you to decide.
Looks SO good! Yay!
