Friday Four

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written one of these little posts up, so here goes nothing.

1. Is over a week too long to be still claiming jet lag? I hope not, because seriously, y’all, this jet lag is kicking my butt.

10414640_10203071654165793_6346436665692076468_n2. My few days off have been spent here:

10527631_10203100010114674_8189701045085431637_n4. And I started running again.

Friday Four

Well, not only is it Friday the 13th & a full moon, but it’s also my baby sister’s birthday. Explains a lot, really.

It’s also been pouring buckets non stop since 8 am (and when I say pouring buckets, it’s not my usual hyperbolic state, it is literally pouring). I don’t remember ever seeing this much constant rain outside of a hurricane. It’s a lovely day to curl up on the couch with a book and a cup of tea.

Which is basically what I’m doing, since I’m at work.

But here’s the real star of the show:

View More: years old, Bec. Holy crap. I feel like it was yesterday that I knocked out your two front teeth (accidentally, of course). How did you go from my little towheaded shadow to 23 in a blink of an eye? You’re one of the funniest people I know, the sweetest & you have the most in your face attitude of anyone I’ve ever met. Mom says you came out with an attitude and I think you’ve been fine tuning it for 23 years. You’re a spectacular teacher (even if your kids drive you nuts most days) & I can’t wait to see what you will do in the future! You’re my little sister and my confidant; my biggest pain the ass & you’ve got my back. So cheers, Becca on surviving 23 years, and 4 Friday the 13th birthdays. We’ll drink some wine when I get home! Love you.

Have a great weekend, y’all!

Friday Four

Tap, tap…is this thing on?

Ahem…kids, I’ve got no good reason about not showing up for class in the last week. Suffice it to say, I’ll be back next week, but since I’m currently on a massive bus hurtling towards NYC, here are a few things I’m excited to check out this weekend!

1. The Highline. I can’t decide if I’m more excited about the flowers or the fact that it’s a freaking garden oasis in the middle of the busiest US city.

2. I can’t wait to walk through Central Park (I mean, DUH) in the mornings. Probably with an overpriced cup of coffee in my hand, as one does.

3. This girl. It’s been two years since we’ve seen each other, & the last time that I was in an unfamiliar city with her, we were in Greece. We’ve traveled to 6 different countries together and always tend to find massive amounts of shenanigans along the way. Also, she’s already informed me that she’s stocked up on wine for the weekend.

4. The 9/11 museum. Honestly, I’m on the fence if I’m going to visit it or not. After reading this piece and a few others like it, I feel like its a tragedy that the government is capitalizing on such a horrific day, but at the same time I feel like it’s something I need to see to understand why I do my job. Does that make any sense?

Either way, I’m going to have millions of pictures to share. Hope y’all have a great weekend!

Friday Four

Well, here it is Friday again already. Is it just me, or does it seem like since Mother Nature has finally decided to show up to the party with some warmth, the days are just flying by? Slow down already!

Last weekend, I was so lucky to be able to travel to Boston to be my BFF’s date to a seriously stunning wedding at the Boston Public Library. If you’ve never been, add it to your bucket list. The nerd in me was basically drooling over the location and the gorgeous details that tied it all together.

1. Um, did you know that the Boston Library has a courtyard?

10176244_10202653050460962_3990257793004730428_nYeah, I didn’t. How beautiful is this place?

2. Amy was a bridesmaid, so I got to hang out with the ladies in the morning while they got their hair and makeup done. Let’s just discuss for a second how lovely it was to not have to take a single. freaking. picture. Oh, also, I’ll discuss that dress later. #itwasthebomb2014-05-16_0001Also, I had no idea until I put these side by side that we’re doing the exact same poses.

3. And even though I took maybe 7 pictures the whole day, I had to get one of Amy getting her makeup done. They’re always my favorites!

10301450_10202653052661017_6918817066163403728_n4. The next day, we hung out around the city & ate at Pizzeria Regina (obviously) & walked all of the wine off. No, really.

2014-05-16_0002Oh, and another picture. Because we looked awesome.

I wish that I could say this weekend is going to be just as amazing, but I won’t lie.

Boston, as always, I love you & you were so good to me!

Have a good weekend, y’all!

Friday Four

Hey y’all!! It’s Friday (finally) & 60 degrees (also, FINALLY). Here are a few things that struck my fancy around the Internet this week:

1. This shirt. I must have it in every color.

2. How beautiful would these walls look in a closet with some industrial shelving and hanging? Lovelovelove.

3. The back of this dress is INSANE. Seriously.

4. As soon as I saw this was part of Emily Henderson’s house, I was all, “Facepalm! Of course it is!” Really though, how much are you digging the color? And that chair!

Have a great weekend, guys!

Friday Four

This week (much like last, if I’m being honest) is dragging on forever. And I know, I know, I’m working so much (I should be happy I have a job), life is stressful (I should be happy I’m alive), I’m still freezing (yeah…nothing thankful about this), blah blah blah.

However I’d like to say for the record that since last Friday I’ve worked 51 hours and still have another 48 to go until I see a day off, AND it was 20 degrees this morning. I hate you, New England.

But I digress. Here are a few things that have helped me cope with the onslaught of work:

1. Avocado on rice cakes. Seriously y’all, I’m pretty sure this is the end all be all to my snacking. I’ve been eating it every day this week (mostly because I haven’t been home long enough in a week to actually cook, but hey…). Just smush up half an avocado on a rice cake and then drizzle the tiniest amount of soy sauce over it. Instant yum.

2. One saving grace about Aprils is that the really colorful, watercolory sunsets start happening again, and the summer light makes its comeback.

2014-04-17 19.30.54(Ignore the horrendous flash that decided to go off.)

3. However, the down side is the fact that its spider season, y’all! I currently have 3 upside down jars in my house trapping spiders.

2014-04-13 21.18.08Please die. DIE DIE DIE.

4. And last but not least, Easter is on Sunday, which means Monday, all the good leftover candy is marked down by 50%. If you see a crazy lady buying ALL the Whopper Eggs, it’s just me. Walk away.

Have a great Easter weekend, guys!

It’s finally Friday, & am I the only one who has felt like this week has just dragged on and on forever? Ugh, March. You boring month. However, a few big things happened this week…

1. I finished a really enormous project up today! Like, finito, I’m washing my hands of it, ifitfallsapartI’llgetanewone done. Here’s a sneak peek:

2. I’m currently on my way to Delaware to spend a few days with this little muffin:

IMG_0602There will be so many shenanigans. Also, can we discuss my tan? I miss it. I also miss weather above 20 degrees and seeing anything green.

3. Along those lines, whomp whomp, it snowed again this week. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE. Enough is enough. Stop praying for snow!!

4. I took my little nugget of a nephew’s 6 month pictures this week, and seriously, this kid is so darn adorable that it makes my ovaries hurt. He’s just such a smiley happy little guy who giggles at the slightest thing and always wants to be held by his Auntie Caitlin. Basically, my heart melts.

2014-03-26_0025Oh, and did I mention he’s super drooly? So. Much. Drool.

Have a wonderful weekend, y’all! I hope you’re warm!

1. Yesterday was the first day of spring, yet this is what I woke up to:

2014-03-20 09.58.29No, March. Just no. Go home, you’re drunk.

2. Since it’s still apparently snowing, I’m literally dreaming of this:

3. Also, go check out this shoot by the one and only Jose Villa. It is stunning beyond words!

greek-goddess-greek-goddesses-grecian-wedding-inspiration-samuelle-gown4. And last but not least, we had ice rescue training this week that basically meant we swam around in the lake watching the sun set. And I loved every second of it.

2014-03-18 19.42.23Please warm up. Kthanksbye.

Friday Four

Today is my Gramp’s 88th birthday! Seriously. 88. Holy crap. He is one of the funniest people that I know, and sometimes the most ridiculous things come out of his mouth. But I guess when you’re 88, you can say whatever you want & get away with it! I can’t wait for that age.

Here are 4 important things that my Gramp has taught me over my 24 years:

1. Have a sense of humor. It will help when your granddaughter crashes your car into a tree. At 13.

2. Know that any vegetable, but especially dirt covered carrots & sun warmed tomatoes are best eaten straight out of the ground or off the vine. None of this washing nonsense. Just wipe it on the grass and eat it. And if you don’t believe me, try it.1069259_10200742142249451_1215053174_n3. Midnight snacking is non-negotiable. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen him sneaking into the kitchen in the summer to get Oreos & ice cream (always the Oreos!).

4. Ketchup is a food group. There is no argument.

Happy birthday, sweet old man!

Friday Four

How is it Friday already? Seriously, people, slow this thing down.

1. Last weekend was my first wedding of the season, that culminated in 50 degree temps (yay for being able to wear a dress for a wedding in the end of February!), one of the most fun wedding parties I’ve ever worked with, and some of my favorite people getting hitched.

IMG_6416-2Also, the most gorgeous (& heaviest) dress of all time.

2. On Tuesday, I took & passed my national certification exam that I have been enormously stressed about for weeks. Which leads me to my next one…

3. On Monday, I’m part of a super exciting event called the NotWedding, & I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t completely nauseous and nervous about it. The rehearsal dinner is tomorrow night in Boston, & they’re now predicting an enormous storm to come in late Sunday night into Monday morning…just in time for the ride down. Pray I don’t take out a plow truck.

4. Because the event will be ending so late on Monday night, I needed to stay in Boston overnight. Hotels are crazy expensive down there (plus I’ll have a car with me so I’ll need parking), so I used Airbnb to find an apartment to stay in (for literally half of what the cheapest hotel was). It’s 3 streets away from where the event is, & I don’t have to worry about getting home late Monday night. Best invention ever? I’ll have to report back next week.

Hope that winter weather isn’t hitting y’all, wherever you are! Have a great weekend!
