Today is my Gramp’s 88th birthday! Seriously. 88. Holy crap. He is one of the funniest people that I know, and sometimes the most ridiculous things come out of his mouth. But I guess when you’re 88, you can say whatever you want & get away with it! I can’t wait for that age.
Here are 4 important things that my Gramp has taught me over my 24 years:
1. Have a sense of humor. It will help when your granddaughter crashes your car into a tree. At 13.
2. Know that any vegetable, but especially dirt covered carrots & sun warmed tomatoes are best eaten straight out of the ground or off the vine. None of this washing nonsense. Just wipe it on the grass and eat it. And if you don’t believe me, try it.3. Midnight snacking is non-negotiable. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen him sneaking into the kitchen in the summer to get Oreos & ice cream (always the Oreos!).
4. Ketchup is a food group. There is no argument.
Happy birthday, sweet old man!
