After a spectacularly crappy week, I’m happy to be in the home stretch of it. I’m sitting at the kitchen table guzzling coffee like there’s no tomorrow, while waiting for the Fireman to pull his butt out of bed (you’d think he’d been at a fire until 3 am or something…oh wait), and then we’re heading to the fair. And let’s face it, a place where you can stuff your face without remorse and coo over baby piglets and goats is an all right place in my book :).
1. Yesterday, when coming home from a doctors appointment, I was so burned out and dreading the pile of laundry and chores that awaited me at home that I took a shortcut. And by shortcut, I mean I drove 10 miles out of my way for a large latte and a short break. Sometimes you just need to decompress without any distraction, and I was so thankful to be able to do that right here. The fact that I wore a tank top and flip flops (in October!? Is this California?) really helped the situation out.
2. Like I mentioned, today we’re spending the day at the fair, and then tonight we have a rehearsal dinner to attend, followed by a wedding tomorrow. As in, I’M ATTENDING A WEDDING. I’m so excited I could burst. No stress, no scrambling for shots. I get to sit back with a glass of wine, and help celebrate our friends marriage. Oh, and the Fireman is in the wedding (you’d think someone who constantly has a camera stuck in his face would be comfortable with the idea of his picture being taken for 30 minutes…), so be prepared for an onslaught of “here’s my boyfriend in a tux” pictures. But let’s be honest, it’s more about what I’m supposed to wear to compliment his colors. Obviously. (If you couldn’t read the sarcasm there, I’m sorry).
3. Since the government decided to
go on vacation shut down, the Fireman has no drill this Sunday. No drill = no paycheck, but no drill also = Sunday funday. Which I for one, am thrilled about. Especially since it involves this little nugget. (Little is a relative word. Kid’s huge). Everybody, meet the Fireman’s brand new nephew. He’s so freaking precious that I can’t help but squeal when I see him.
4. It’s been in the 70’s. In October. This is unheard of, but I’m taking full advantage of it by wearing shorts and flip flops as much as possible.
Aaaaaand I’m out. Have a great weekend!
