We live in the country. In the sticks. I hear guns being shot off in the middle of the day and think nothing of it. During hunting season, it’s not uncommon to see dead deer hanging in front yards. Hunting is all people talk about for weeks on end. So yeah, I’ve somehow turned into a work boot wearing, county fair attending ex-suburbanite.
Which isn’t exactly what I planned on when I was little.
But I digress. As country as it is where we are, I’ve always managed to keep our house John Deere free (which is hard, considering that the Fireman owns about 24 JD shirts). But I caved when I found some seriously awesome moose hooks on Etsy.
But I kinda waffled on buying them because I needed 2 & at $14 apiece, they weren’t exactly in my non-existent budget. But moose hooks!! Have you ever seen anything so awesome!?
Oh, but I never explained what they were for!! When I decided to renovate our frame wall, I took ALL the nails and hooks down in the house…including the ones that held hand & hair towels in the bathroom. I’m not even going to tell you how long ago that was because it’s fairly embarrassing. So we lived without towel hooks for a rather long time, until my sister told me that I could shop Hobby Lobby online, where I found the exact same unpainted moose hook for…$4 (they’re now on sale for $2…seriously, go buy one). You can bet I snatched 2 of those suckers up faster than you can blink.
When they arrived, I begged and pleaded with the Fireman to hang them so we could get our miniscule bathroom countertop back.
I love when he’s the one doing all the heavy work :). Since the moose are fairly heavy, he looked for a stud to drill into (since we didn’t want it to fall off and take half the wall with it…you laugh, but it would happen). Once he drilled the holes, he sunk a few wall anchors in.
Then he simply screwed them to the wall. Easy peasy.
I got bored while I waited for him to finish. #selfiesfordays
He did the same thing on the other wall, and we miraculously had towel hangers.
I’m still excited over it. It’s kind of embarrassing. I really love having my counter back.
And part of my towel rack. And the moose are adorable (and so sturdy). I’m literally trying to think of more uses for them so I can snatch them up for $2!!
