I own a lot of clothing. It’s a fact. Just ask the Fireman if my side of the closet is strangling his yet (the answer would be a resounding YES).
All those clothes are the biggest reason that I’m so excited about this:
Also, let’s talk about the fact that this California girl now considers 60 degrees to be “tanning weather.” #neverthoughtthisdaywouldcome
The transition time between winter and summer here can vary in time and temperature, so it’s always advisable to have an outfit with layers that you can shed throughout the day. Just because I live in a tiny, middle of nowhere town doesn’t mean that I find it acceptable to leave my house in my pajamas or sweats…I still have standards. Here are a few of my favorite outfits that I’ve been wearing lately:
1. A maxi dress with a denim jacket and layered jewelry. The mornings and evenings are still a little chilly, but when the sun comes out, the maxi dress is more than enough.//2. Black pants with a chambray shirt and brown boots. I consider these my winter staples, and wore this exact outfit no less than 27 times this winter. As it gets warmer, my boots get shorter, and the pants will eventually turn into a skirt.//3. Cuffed jeans with flops, a striped tank and a cardigan. I wore this exact outfit last week. It was glorious. (My toes froze). It’s got just enough summeryness mixed with a little spring to pass anyones inspection.//4. Sweatshirt, old jeans, and flops. Another staple outfit. Comfy and warm, and perfect for those mornings you have to run out and get something but refuse to wear pjs or sweats (ahem, see above).
Another thing that I love to do to fancy up an outfit is to toss a blazer on (I never thought I’d see the day when I owned not only one, but four blazers…#privateschoolgottome). And yes, I do get a lot of funny looks when I’m at dinner in a blazer and everyone else has on Carharrts.
I don’t like to look too preppy, so I always make sure I have a casual top and jeans or a flowy dress on. I also love to add a statement necklace to make sure it’s not too formal. And yes, most of them are turquoise. The chunkier the better…it adds a little edge.
Those are a few of my favorite Spring wardrobe essentials…are there more that I should know about? Dish!!
