It’s March here in the lovely, snowy, cold a$$ state of New Hampshire. Spring was supposed to show up 2 weeks ago but instead decided to be fashionably late. And by fashionably late I mean probably June at the rate we’re going.
Ordinarily, Spring here means one thing: mud season. It’s actually one of my favorite parts of the year, because if you’ve never squished your toes in mud, you’re seriously missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures. However, it gets tracked in everywhere. I mean, mud pretty much covers the state for about 6 weeks.
Now, we’re still tracking in snow AND mud, so we’ve got an issue. Our boots come off at the door and tossed onto a boot tray until the next usage. The only issue with the tray was that once the snow melts, the boots sit there in puddles that subsequently gets tracked on the carpet.
Quite a while ago, I found this on Pinterest and thought it was fairly genius. I mean, drainage, functionality, cuteness…it’s like the trifecta.
It was wicked easy to make, which makes me wonder why I didn’t do it 3 years ago.
I didn’t hook the stones to the tray (which I may have to do eventually, because they keep getting dislodged when the boots get dropped on them).
It’s also incredibly heavy and a pain to move, but it works really well for our boots, and after 3 years of dirt tracking and mud everywhere, that’s pretty much all that matters to me at this point!
Have you made any quick DIY’s that make your life 1000x easier??
