have had a really ugly lamp in our bedroom. Like, sand colored with a wiggly fixture that would make the shade crooked ALL THE TIME. It was making me nuts and since we got it as a placeholder, I’d been on the lookout for a new one for a while.
Turns out, lamps are expensive, and since we’d added a brand new shade to it, it was a bit of an investment when all we needed was a new base. So I started thinking about painting the already existing base.
And then I got bored and just did it. First off, I superglued the fixture to the base and then used the metallic paint on the ugly gold part. Then, using the totally gorgeous navy blue, I sprayed on about 5 light coats.
It plays off the yellow dresser so well that it looks like its always been there. Now that it looks like a whole new lamp, I’m on to the shade. For now it will work, but down the road I’m thinking about painting the shade or recovering it. Thoughts?
For now, I absolutely love the way it’s brought more color into the room, AND it was a $4 upgrade. Winning!!
