Last week, I
joined AARP turned another year older. And as I said on Facebook, “There comes a point in life when your birthday becomes just another day to do laundry…”
23 is totally overrated, y’all.
The food, however, is not. We made cinnamon rolls in the waffle maker using this recipe…yummo. Wait, I guess that’s not really a recipe if you’re using canned rolls. Whatever, you get my drift.
I got some super gorgeous daisies from one of the local shop owners in town…
And spent the rest of the ridiculously hot afternoon lakeside.
Then we went out to a new Mexican restaurant for dinner! So good…and the margaritas had none of that watered down nonsense. After that, we had an impromptu movie date and saw Ted. I thought that the Fireman might actually start crying at a few parts. He wouldn’t stop laughing and now he won’t stop quoting it…
A very good birthday indeed!
The next morning we headed to the 4th of July parade (to be in it, not watch it), and THANK GOD FOR A/C. I pitied all the bystanders in the 9879865% humidity and 90 degree temps. Rough life. That night we headed to
Prostitution Constitution Park for fireworks with the fire department. Since it was literally less than a 1/2 mile from our house, I procrastinated my butt off…luckily, because at about 430 it started downpouring. NOT winning. It cleared up after a few minutes, but it sprinkled on and off before the fireworks started. The best part though, was the lightning show that continued all night, even during the fireworks. Lightning + fireworks = the coolest thing ever.
Plus those clouds make for some gorg sunsets.
But my favorite part was clearly this view. Sorry, distracted.
Sadly, the rain got quite a few of the fireworks wet, making for a pretty disappointing show. There were a bunch that actually went off AFTER everyone had left…good planning, guys. Oh well, at least they all didn’t go off at once.
So those were the highlights of last week! Anyone else have any fireworks mishaps?
