In continuing my posts about organization, here’s one of all the little random things we do around the house.
We always had a few pens and pieces of paper lying around on the coffee table along with 74633 remotes, so when I saw this article, it gave me a great idea for these…
The first one holds a few pens and some sticky notes, along with coasters and a Rubiks cube I totally plan on solving one day. In 35 seconds or less.
The second one holds the two extra remotes we have. You’d think they’d invent a universal remote already…sheesh. Anyways, these boxes have corralled all the excess items and kept them from getting dusty and knocked all over the place.
We also have this dresser in the “dining room” that holds a TON of stuff. It’s got excess decorating supplies, candles, appliances, placemats, etc. It belonged to the Fireman’s aunt when she was growing up, and because of that, I: a) don’t think that I’m allowed to paint it, and b) love the scratches that cover it. It gives it character. I’d never have thought to have put a dresser in the kitchen, but it is amazing. It’ll change your life, people.
The Fireman has a box on his side of the bed that holds some random things thta he needs for work and the military: belts, books, pens, glasses, etc. It keeps all the crap (sorry, honey) together and out of my way for cleaning. Not to mention, it makes everything look that much better and more streamlined.
I recently decided to make a “launch pad” by the front door to corral all of our keys, outgoing mail, hats, sunglasses, etc. I’d seen them around on other blogs, and when we were cleaning out a closet I found a hanging organizer that I forgot we had. VOILA! I love free things. I also love the word VOILA! And the number 3.Where we we?
Also, my girl Martha hooked me up with some great removable dry erase decals that also make my life approximately 237498235 times easier.
They’re fantastic. We plan out our menu for two weeks, so this has made it so much easier than constantly losing the piece of paper that it was all on before.
So, that’s it for random storage in our house. Up next? Kitchen! Do you have any other ideas that you use in your house for extra random stuff?
