If there was a fire in your house, what would be the first thing you would grab? We have this discussion frequently. I’ve got my list and the Fireman’s got his. But then we thought, ya know, we should really have all of our stuff together in one spot to make it easier. Enter the fire safe.
The Fireman’s nephews got small versions of ours for Christmas (used, of course, for the most important things in their lives…Legos.). After seeing how sturdy and well built they were, we grabbed one at Walmart. At $40, it was a lot less than I thought I would have to pay for a waterproof and fireproof safe.
It comes with two keys and a heavy duty latch. You may think, what do I need a freaking safe for? Well, let me tell you.
- Insurance information
- Birth Certificates
- Social Security Cards
- Memory Cards
- Pictures and videos
I myself would be DEVASTATED if I lost my external memory drive. It’s got thousands of pictures that I can’t replace, and while I always knew where it was, it makes it that much easier knowing that its protected now.
It came with elastic straps for the inside of the box, which are sturdy enough to hold cds and envelopes. It’s big enough for manila folders, too. The only thing I’m not too impressed with is the weight. I stuck it on the scale and it came in at 25 BIG pounds.
I, for one, think it was a great purchase and I’m happy to know all my stuff is together now.
How about you? Have you ever used anything like this?
