That’s basically how I feel now. I am slightly obsessed with all things Christmas decorations. And by slightly I mean ovaries-to-the-wall-all-out-on-decorating. It could be due to the fact that my parents always decorated our house so that it looked like Santa was gutted in the living room. This is the only picture I can find…but I think it sufficiently sums up the decorating scheme?
Yes, that is a 12 foot tree. Yes, it does take 3 days to decorate the house. Yes, it’s a pain in the butt to take it all down. BUT IT LOOKS AWESOME!
That’s basically how my decorating goes. Except our tree is a little more like a Charlie Brown tree. The Fireman made fun of it when it went up…all I had to do was remind him that he started asking when it was going up back in October :). I think he really missed Christmas last year…
It’s pretty and shiny and that’s all that matters to me. And those little jars on the floor? I love them and actually keep them out all year round.
I absolutely adore this mirrored tray. It was clearly the best one dollar purchase I ever made. All I did was toss a few old candle holders on it (Cost Plus), pillar candles, mercury glass votives (sale at Michaels!) and other assorted decorations on it, and VOILA! The Fireman was complaining that there wasn’t enough blue in the tree, so to appease him I tossed on a glittery blue ornament.
Another great cheap find? This $5 silver bowl. When I bought it, it was black and purple. It took a solid 2.5 hours to shine it up, but it is so pretty with some old candles and cranberries!
Clearly you’ve got to disregard the messy kitchen in this picture and focus on the happy glowing bottles above the cabinets. Pretty much a stroke of genius. I’m considering not taking the lights down when Christmas is over. They really actually do provide a lot of light!
Yes, we still have pumpkins. No, I will not throw them away just because they’re out of season!! I think they go swimmingly with the snowmen!
More to come…
