First of all, let me just preface this with saying, since my dad’s been here visiting, my healthy eating has gone through the roof. I just love not having to cook and getting free delicious, healthy meals. NOM NOM NOM.
ANYWAYS…in my field, my eating varies like crazy. Some days at work I literally sit around on my butt for 14 hours, other days we’re out straight for 14 hours (sometimes more). On those days, I grab what I can (sometimes, I’m ashamed to say, McDonald’s salads…), and that my friends, is exactly why there are so many overweight EMT’s. Sad but true.
It doesn’t help that the nearest Trader Joe’s (can I have another NOM NOM NOM?) is AN HOUR AWAY in Portland, along with a Whole Foods that makes me cry a little bit everytime I walk in. Our grocery store here is surprisingly well stocked with health foods, but there is just some stuff that I can’t get. For example, fresh veggies and fruits. I totally took them for granted when I lived in California and they were practically giving the fresh stuff away at stores. Here, I’m excited when a pint of strawberries are $2.99. Pathetic. When I went home in June, my dad took me to a new produce store, and I’m pretty sure I actually drooled over the fresh-that-morning fruit. A pineapple for $1? Um, yes please. I’ll take 6000.
So, back to the whole point of this post (ohmygee, I’m tangenting off like Mariah Carey did on HSN…did you see that loopiness extragavanza? Faboosh.). Food. It’s my favorite thing in the whole wide world, apart from this girl…
OMG, I’m tangenting again.
When the Fireman left for Texas, all the chips, cookies, and carbs went straight into my sisters car, and the chicken, rice and veggies, descended. Healthiness heaven. Unfortunately, since he’s come back, so have some of the carbs. Now its all about finding a healthy balance for me. The other thing…I haven’t seen my treadmill in approximately 654684 days, due to all the crap moving boxes stacked in the second bedroom. Oops. During the winter, I was averageing about 45 min a night on it. But it was usually about 10 pm when I was doing it. That’s the other thing about my job, if I want to exercise, it’s gotta be at either 530 am or 10 pm. Kiss my lazy butt.
**Sidenote: I actually wrote this post a few days ago, but then wordpress got tempermental on me and decided to delete everything that I’d written. So I got super annoyed, and then sat on my annoyance for about 2 days. Ugh, blogging. That’s the end of it. No more stressing/ripping my hair out/gnashing my teeth. I’m not even sure what this post is about anymore anyways…
